"Litter and Solid Waste Act of 1985"

D.C. Code Ann. § 3-1001 et seq.

 

 

The Law:  The Act requires the Department of Public Works to work in conjunction with businesses and charitable organizations to create and follow a litter and solid waste reduction and recycling program to improve the appearance of the local environment.  This includes the creation of recycling centers, clean-up programs, and education programs.  D.C. Code Ann. § 3-1002.
