"D.C. Historic Landmark and Historic District Preservation Act of 1978"

The Law: The Act establishes a comprehensive program for the regulation of historic properties in the District and provides for the official designation of property as a historic district or landmark. In addition to the applicable zoning regulations, additional application for permits must be made for new construction, exterior alterations, or demolition.
