Clean Hands Before Receiving a License or Permit Act

D.C. Code Ann. §§ 47-2861 through 47-2866

The Law: The Act generally prohibits the Mayor from issuing a license or permit to any applicant that owes more than $100 in outstanding debt to the District of Columbia accrued from fines, penalties, interest, or past due taxes or has failed to file District Tax returns. Beginning June 1, 2007, an interagency computer system will aid compliance with this law. Begining 2012 a Liences or permit shall not be dnied pursuant to subsection (a) if ths section if the applicant has agreed to a payment schedule to eliminate the outstanding debt.
